Backers Club and Ko-fi
Tips, memberships and a shop. Or just backing.
Ko-fi makes it easy for fans to tip you, and adds memberships, commissions, and a shop on top. It is generous to creators, well liked, and a good fit for many.
Backers Club is narrower: recurring backing for podcasts, newsletters, videos, and essays an audience already receives elsewhere.
The short version
- Choose Ko-fi when tips matter, or you want to sell commissions and products from the same page.
- Choose Backers Club when you want recurring support that follows your release schedule.
Side by side
- Support: Ko-fi centers on one-off or monthly tips, with memberships as an option. Backers Club centers on recurring backing—per release, weekly, or monthly. With per-release backing, no new release means no charge.
- Fees: Ko-fi’s platform fees depend on the payment type and plan, plus payment processing. Backers Club is free to start and takes 8% plus transaction fees when a backer pays. No plans to pick between.
- Rewards: optional on both. Backers Club’s core invitation is just the work you already make.
- Home: Backers Club is a small European business, built and hosted in the EU.
